Youth Mentoring Programs

Take Flight’s Youth Mentoring Programs are a series of individualized programs that aim to help children develop the skills and the confidence needed to fulfill their potential. Our mentoring programs are a combination of fitness, academic, and social-emotional activities that are designed to help the youth build their foundation for success with the guidance of a qualified mentor. These are open to children ages 8 to 18 years old.

Why Enroll Your Child in Our Mentoring Services for the Youth

Youth and teenage mentoring programs can be beneficial for children as they receive support and guidance from their mentors. The mentor can be a positive role model who listens to your child, identifies his strengths, provides constructive feedback, and finds the necessary resources to promote your child’s best interests. Having a mentor from our youth and teenage mentoring programs can make a difference in your child’s life through learning sessions that focus on his holistic development.

What to Expect from our Youth Mentoring Programs

Once you enroll your child in our youth mentoring programs, we will match them with one of our caring and trained adult mentors who will offer guidance and support in the next 6 to 12 months. All our mentors have completed Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse Training and Implicit Bias and Social Emotional Learning Training.

The mentor and your child will build a lasting mentee-mentor relationship that’s non-judgmental, empathetic, and consistent. Our mentoring sessions vary from child to child as we customize our programs according to your child’s unique needs. It combines role modeling, teaching, and advising techniques to support your child in reaching his goals.

Your child and the mentor will meet for at least four hours each month to listen to your child’s experiences and challenges, offer support and encouragement, and give advice on setting and achieving specific goals.

As our youth mentorship programs are built upon trust and integrity, we also involve the parents by documenting mentoring sessions and providing feedback about the child’s development and progress.

We also offer online youth mentoring programs for children 13 years old and up. Our mentors here will explore topic areas such as succeeding in school, developing a career vision, getting work experience, preparing for the future, and practicing networking.
